普雷斯顿23号 普雷斯顿23号A 历史 major with military aspirations, 普雷斯顿23号 spent his summer interning in Oklahoma with the Fort Sill National L和mark 和 Museum 和 the U.S. 陆军炮兵博物馆. Both are operated by the U.S. 军队 Center of Military History, which is responsible for educating soldiers 和 curating a nationwide network of museums 和 collections.

“I’m interested in making 历史 approachable to a wide audience, 和 museums are the premier way to do so,•艾森说.

He was already familiar with the Fort Sill area from his past participation in basic combat training with the U.S. 军队. His responsibilities at the museums were taking inventory within the Fort Sill archive, developing exhibits — including a historical arms room — visiting community museums, h和ling artifacts 和 working with the community during tours.

“The artillery museums’ collection of historical artillery is one of the best in the world. Being able to view 和 learn about the collection is impressive,•艾森说. “Learning how to h和le historical artifacts is a valuable skill that I would not have learned elsewhere. I also enjoyed working with the staff who had 历史 和 military backgrounds.”

•艾森, 艾伦镇的, 宾西法尼亚, applied to the museum internship with assistance from the Bison Battalion, a cooperative ROTC program in which he participates that also includes students from Bucknell 和 Bloomsburg universities. He also credits Susquehanna’s 历史 department as supporting him, notably 罗伯特Rouphail, assistant professor of 历史, 和 爱德华Slavishak, professor of 历史.

“Both have emphasized being able to write for both academic 和 public audiences,•艾森说. “Participation in their classes developed my writing skills 和 research ability, which made it possible for me to participate in the program.”

•艾森, who has minors in 音乐表演, 军事科学经济学, said his time at Fort Sill satisfied his dual interests in 军事科学 和 历史.

“Combining that with also being able to work with the U.S. 军队 museum program, I could not have asked for internships better suited to my interests,” he said. “I hope this will enhance my education as a researcher 和 communicator of 历史.”

After graduating from Susquehanna University, •艾森 will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the military with hopes of entering active duty as a field artillery officer.
